Our History

Christian Life Center is an Assemblies of God Church established in August of 1984 in the town of Cicero Illinois. It is the manifestation of the burden placed in the heart of Pastor David Tinberg.  In May of 1983 Pastor Dave, who at the time was a student at Central Bible College, felt the Lord leading he and his wife Cindy to pioneer a church in the Cicero-Berwyn area. CLC started in the chapel of a funeral parlor with a handful of faithful congregants. It wasn't long before CLC outgrew the chapel of the funeral parlor, and a store front after that, and eventually an old Masonic Temple. Pastor Dave prayed for a building that would allow the church to continue to grow. In 2004, through a series of miraculous events, that prayer was answered and Christian Life Center purchased the building that stands at 3409 Grove Ave, in Berwyn, Illinois. After this, God continued to do miracles that led to the renovation of what once was a church led by the founder of Berwyn, Charles Piper. Now, firmly established in the community,

After a victorious battle with cancer, Pastor Dave finally answered the call to retirement.  He and Cindy officially stepped out of full time ministry in May of 2023.  With the assistance and direction of the Illinois District Council, the church Board of Directors and Elders began the Pastoral search.  The District Council representatives thoroughly explained the process and provided the tools, direction and support during the process.  Typically, this type of search can take 18 - 24 months for the Pastoral selection process.  But God had a different plan.  The Lord reconnected some old friends of Christian Life Center to the Senior Pastor calling placed in their hearts.  By November 1st of 2023, Pastor Marco and Margie Villalobos came to CLC and took upon the mantle of Pastoral Leadership.  It was a blessing and a match designed by God.  The body of CLC welcomed the Villalobos family with open hearts and arms.  The Lord provides exceedingly, abundantly more than we could ever ask or pray.

We come together out of a common experience with God – a hunger for the divine moment, spiritual momentum, and growth as children of God.
— David Tinberg, Founding Pastor
